What are the Benefits of Trigger Point Therapy?

This therapy helps relax, soften, lengthen, and strengthen muscles when pressure is applied. Along with that, our chiropractor can incorporate stretching techniques while targeting the trigger points to minimize pain and improve mobility. During a trigger point therapy session, our chiropractor will locate the affected points by pressing on muscle tissue or manipulating the muscle fibers. Once identified, we will gradually apply pressure to reduce your pain.

What Should You Do to Prepare for Your Therapy Session?

To prepare for your session, we recommend wearing comfortable clothing and shoes, as you would when you exercise. During trigger point therapy, the patient's involvement is generally passive. If our chiropractor is able to your maneuver your body effectively, the treatment can be more beneficial. We also suggest to consume about a third to half of your body weight in ounces of water each day, which can help with your recovery and keep your body hydrated.

What Can I Expect During Trigger Point Therapy?

As pressure is applied, our chiropractor may request that you rate your discomfort on a scale of one to ten, with one indicating discomfort and ten representing pain. Our chiropractor will gradually increase the pressure until you reach five or six on this scale and then maintain pressure until the pain diminishes to level two or below. Once this stage has been reached, the trigger point has been deactivated. However, if the pain persists, it might not be due to a trigger point and our chiropractor will discontinue treatment in that point and proceed to another region.
